Emancipation
Acrylic / collage on canvas
200 x 100 cm
This horse represents the transition from a state of taming (symbolized by the dark, gridded background behind the animal’s rump) to a state of liberation, a return to nature. The entire part of the horse placed on the dark background is covered with gold and precious stones, the lines are regular, opulent, ordered.
This part fades as the gaze turns towards the front of the horse, whose head is almost translucent, diaphanous, slightly immersed in the milky immensity of the good, the beautiful and the true.
There remains only a little gold at the level of the brain, which could represent useful experience, there remains all the gilding symbolizing education and social training. The lines that start from the top and connect the back of the animal to the frame give the shape of the horse which turns in circles in a perpetual movement that it did not choose.
